How credits and licenses work on the platform
Credits pay for generation, editing, training, and other actions, while licenses unlock individual images for download and commercial use. You can get both through subscriptions or one-time purchases — with clear rules on usage and expiration.
Credits and licenses are the two main resources used on exactly.ai.
Credits are used to pay for actions — like generating images, editing, upscaling, and training styles.
Licenses grant commercial use rights for specific images and also unlock additional features — including downloads in high resolution (up to 8K) or SVG format.
Credits: what they’re for
You need credits for:
Generating images
Editing (Instruct, Replace, Recreate, Erase, Vary)
Training Private Styles (first one is free)
Upscaling (once per image)
Background removal (once per image)
Repeating vectorizations (first is free)
You can get credits by:
Buying a one-time credit pack
Subscribing to image licenses (each license adds 100 bonus credits)
Receiving bonuses from the platform (support, grants, or promotions)
For exact pricing per feature, see Credit Rates
Licenses: what they’re for
Licenses unlock full access to individual images. When you use a license, you get:
No watermark
Download up to 8K resolution or SVG
Full personal and commercial rights (worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free)
You need a license for:
Images generated with Private Styles
Images generated with Artist Styles
Base Model images do not require a license from exactly.ai (usage terms depend on the model provider).
You can get licenses by:
Buying a one-time license pack
Subscribing to a monthly or yearly license plan
Each license can be used on any image — whether generated with your Private Style or an Artist Style.
Credit & license expiration
Credits and licenses from subscriptions roll over each month, up to the amount included in your current monthly allocation. Anything above that limit expires.
One-time purchases of credits and licenses expire 12 months after purchase if unused
If you cancel a subscription, remaining unused resources stay active until the end of the billing period
After that, they are forfeited (unless they came from a one-time purchase)
Rules & limitations
Credits and licenses are:
Non-refundable
Non-transferable
Tied to your account only
Not exchangeable for money
You can always top up with additional credits or licenses as needed — whether or not you’re on a subscription.
