Removing Image Backgrounds

Background Removal automatically detects the main subject in your image and makes the background transparent.

The image is returned as a PNG with transparency by default. You can also export it as a JPEG — in that case, the transparent areas are filled with white.

Transparent PNGs can be upscaled to 8K or vectorized. Background removal can only be used once per image.

How to use it

  • Click on an image to open the viewer

  • Open the Remove Background pane

  • Wait for the background removal to complete

  • The background-removed version is saved in the image history. You can return to it at any time by clicking the thumbnail in the history panel or by clicking “Remove Background” again.

  • Go to the Export pane

  • Choose PNG or JPEG format (PNG is the default)

  • Click “Export” to download the image

Plan availability

Background removal is only available on:

  • Studio plan

  • Custom plan
