How Sennep use exactly.ai to accelerate 3D game development

Sennep is a leading design studio known for crafting interactive experiences. But like many creative agencies, they face a challenge: a lack of time.

Creating 3D assets is a slow process that requires skilled illustrators. While the manual process ensures high-quality outputs, it also limits their ability to focus on other projects.

To speed up their workflow, Sennep turned to exactly.ai to optimise their creative process.

The challenge

Sennep’s in-house illustrator previously spent considerable time creating assets for 3D games. Hours were eaten away coming up with ideas, sketching and refining concepts before then finally developing multiple complex polished graphics.

Matt Rice, Founder and Creative Director of Sennep, explained that Sennep’s in-house illustrator was spending so much time building out multiple levels of the game that the project almost came to a complete halt.

The team needed an immediate solution that would reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks and ideation work while still producing high-quality graphics.

Implementation

Sennep used exactly.ai to train three different AI models based on their established styles. They uploaded 10-12 examples of their past work and created a model that was capable of generating on-brand 3D characters and other assets in seconds.

By speeding up these repetitive tasks, the Sennep team could focus on being creative, trying things they never had time for before and free up their illustrator’s time to work on high-impact projects. Crucially, by reclaiming the time once spent ideating on level design, Sennep was able to resume developing the game - and finally bring the project to completion.

Exactly.ai has also opened up possibilities with their in-house illustration style. Hege Aaby, Founder and Design Strategist, explained that rather than taking the illustrator away from other important work, the team are now able to create illustrations for their own marketing materials using their trained model.
