On exactly.ai, if you can find the right photographs, you can create sculptures out of anything. This sparked an idea: what would happen if I turned sofas into characters?
Here’s how I did it.
1. First, I chose minimalist photos of sofas, because their shape and texture offered intriguing possibilities.

Once I started generating, the results were both interesting and unpredictable. For the following images I used this prompt: "fat plush toy engine machine colourful". The output was fun but didn’t resemble the sofa much – the results felt more like soft, plush toys.

2. I decided to test the model on animals. This achieved some fascinating results, but the model still generated diverse outcomes, without a clear direction.

3. I decided to set a stricter rule in my prompts.
In each one I wrote "studio photo of gray plush figure”. All the generations based on this prompt shared a similar style. Depending on the adjectives I combined it with – like fat, strong, shy, running, realistic, wrinkly – I could guide the output’s characteristics. This shaped distinct personalities for the figurines, and the models began to exhibit these traits.

4. Next, I pushed the model further and added close-up details with this prompt: "Studio photo of plush square strong fat gray figure, close-up view, face portrait".

This adjustment led to even more refined results, capturing detailed facial features and creating these portraits.
5. After lots of iterations, I spent time selecting the best results for one Instagram post. Here’s the evolution:

My journey from sofa to character was a product of multiple rounds of assessment and experimentation. By refining my prompts and adding specific details, I was able to unlock so many variations from a single model.
